Animals - August DT Project

Hello everyone!

This month we are sharing projects featuring animals on the Auzz Trinklets and Crafts blog. Many companies have brilliant creature stamps and Neha has numerous styles of animal stamps in the store, from Katzelkraft critters to Clearly Besotted beasties to Lawn Fawn fauna - you are sure to find something to suit your style!

Today I am again working with stamps from one of my favourite companies, My Favorite Things.

This card uses Neenah Classic Crest 110lb Smooth Solar White Cardstock for the base which is cut with a paper trimmer at 4 1/4" x 11" and scored with a teflon bone folder at 5 1/2" to make a top folding card of 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

I die cut a frame with a Sizzix Big Shot Machine from My Favorite Things Dienamics Stitched Cover-Up Companion - Vertical four times from Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Smooth Solar White Cardstock and adhered these together on top of each other using Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I stamped the sentiment from the new My Favorite Things Happy Hippos on the centre of the frame with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and then adhered the frame to the card base.

I used the same die to cut a small rectangle piece from My Favorite Things Calm & Cozy Chevron 6x6 Paper Pack to fit inside the bottom rectangle of the frame. I first adhered it to one piece of Neenah cardstock left over from the frames I cut earlier and adhered it in place to the card base. I then diecut a piece of Simon Says Stamp 100lb Cardstock - Green Apple with Lawn Fawn Stitched Mountain Borders and a piece of Simon Says Stamp 100lb Cardstock - Seaglass with the same die. I pieced these together, adhering them to one larger rectangle piece of Neenah cardstock from the top of the frame. I then cut away the overhanging pieces of coloured cardstock with Tim Holtz Kushgrip Scissors and placed the rectangle back into the larger rectangle of the frame and ran it through the Sizzix Bigshot Machine again in order to have the stitched edge on the rectangle piece. I adhered this in place onto the card base.

I cut the sun from the Simon Says Stamp 100lb Cardstock - Sunshine with the Mama Elephant Stitched Sky die set and trimmed the rays off a little at the top and on the right using a mini guillotine, similar to the Tonic Studio guillotine. This enabled me to tuck it snugly into the corner inside the frame.

I then stamped the hippo, birds and balloons from the My Favorite Things Happy Hippos in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, using my Misti Stamping Tool onto X-Press It Blending card. I coloured these using Copic Markers and cut each image using a Brother Scan n Cut as I did not have the coordinating dies on hand. I placed these onto the card using 3M Scotch Double Sided Foam Tape to add dimension.

I completed the card by adding Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins - 4mm and 6mm.

Thankyou for following along with me today. If you cannot find the items I have used (listed below) in the Auzz Trinklets and Crafts store, be sure to drop Neha a message via email or Facebook and she will do what she can to order the product in for you.

Happy crafting and have a great day!

Play To Your Strengths - July DT Project 2

Hello! I hope this mid-week day finds you well.

I have another interactive card to share today, a design feature determined as a strength of mine. Playing to our strengths is the theme for the Auzz Trinklets and Crafts blog this month.

I cut two pieces of Strathmore Bristol Smooth Paper at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and squirt some Ken Oliver Color Burst powders across the cardstock - Ultramarine Blue at the top, Pthalo Green in the middle and Violet along the bottom and squirted water over the powder using a Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer to spread the colour. I dried the piece off with a Wagner Heat Tool and die cut the pieces using the scalloped rectangle frame from My Favorite Things Blueprints 27 using a Sizzix Bigshot machine.

I took the My Favorite Things Slider Channel Builder and made a modified cut in the middle of one of the coloured cardstock pieces. I did this by using the largest die and running it through with the end of the die hanging outside of the plates so it would not cut through the cardstock. I then turned it around and repeated this on the other side, leaving a smaller rectangle with curved corners. This gave me my window. I reserved the positive rectangle for the card assembly. I stamped the sentiment 'have a magical day' from the Lawn Fawn Fairy Friends in Versamark ink with a Misti stamping tool and embossed it with Ranger Embossing Powder, White with my heat tool.

From the second piece of coloured cardstock I cut a piece across the middle using the same die as above to give me the piece to slide in and out of the window. As it was similarly coloured, it does not look out of place on the finished card. I used an EK Tools Powder Tool to prep the surface of this piece, ensuring embossing powder would not stick to where it was not desired. I stamped the sentiment 'waving hello' from the stamp set Lawn Fawn Mermaid for You using the same instructions as above.

I then stamped numerous images from the Lawn Fawn Mermaid for You stamp set, the copic coloured images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It Blending Card and the solid images in Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks and cut these out using the corresponding dies. To assemble the card, I cut three of each of the remaining dies in the My Favorite Things Slider Channel Builder set of dies and stacked each of these, adhering them together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I then adhered these around, above and below the window on the back of the coloured piece of Bristol cardstock. I adhered this to the card base and then adhered the reserved piece ('have a magical day') inside the window to the card base also. I slid the large coloured diecut piece in on the right hand side of the card. This slides in and out easily as the piece has plenty of clearance with the three layers of die cuts under the window piece.

I then cut two shortened fish tail pieces from Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Smooth Solar White Cardstock with a die from My Favorite Things Jumbo Fishtail Banner Stax, the perfect width for the slider piece, so I adhered these as a handle and stamped the 'slide me' from Lawn Fawn Push Here stamp set in Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink.

I adhered all the images, some with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and others with 3M Scotch Double Sided Foam Tape. The narwhal in particular, was adhered with foam tape as this prevents the slider piece from escaping the card when opened. I finished by adding Zig Wink of Stella to parts of the images, unfortunately difficult to photograph.

Play To Your Strengths - July DT Project

Hello!

This month on the blog we are each 'playing to our strengths'. I have chosen to feature interactive card designs; they are so much fun to create and receive!

I die cut numerous copies of the claw machine with Lawn Fawn You're Claw-some Lawn Cuts from Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Smooth Solar White Cardstock, 15-16 in all, with a Sizzix Bigshot Machine. I took a negative from one of the diecut pieces and used it as a template to line up in the bottom left corner of my MISTI stamping tool. I then took one of the claw machine diecuts, inserted it into the template, lined up the claw machine stamp from Lawn Fawn You're Claw-some and closed the door of the MISTI, picking up the stamp. I stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, removed the die cut and replaced it with the next blank diecut. I repeated this until all the die cuts were stamped.

I coloured the inside of the claw machine, the teddies and around them with Copic markers, this being the base layer. I then took 10 or so of these diecuts, cut the inside of the claw machine away, using a Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Design Ruler and a craft knife. I coloured only one of these pieces for the top layer of the claw machine. I used a die from Lawn Fawn, Slide on Over to cut a space for the My Favorite Things Slider Element to sit, into every one of the claw machine die cuts - apart from the base and top pieces. I stamped the hearts from Lawn Fawn, You're Claw-some along the top section of the machine on the top layer die cut.

I proceeded to adhere these pieces together with Ranger Multi Medium Mattelining them up carefully. The sides of the diecut are so slim, but as I built the layers, the shape gained integrity and was not so delicate. The remaining stamped dies were cut to allow the claw to slide along the top of the machine, attached to the Slider Element by a small piece of cardstock, the mechanism hidden by the top layer. I adhered these and placed the hook with Slider Element into place. I considered placing some shaker items into the space, but realised this would compromise the slider from running smoothly as they would get in the way, so decided against this. I then adhered a sheet of acetate to cover the area so it would resemble a glassed in claw machine and adhered the top layer to the machine.

To assemble the card, I diecut two rectangles with a die from My Favorite Things Blueprints 21 from Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Smooth Solar White Cardstock and one from a sheet of designer paper from Lawn Fawn, Perfectly Plaid, Fall 6x6".  I placed one of the Neenah rectangles and the plaid rectangle piece one on top of the other and cut them diagonally with my paper trimmer. I then adhered matching pieces of the rectangle onto the second Neenah rectangle, coloured the top Neenah piece with a copic marker and I stamped the sentiment from Lawn Fawn, You're Claw-some onto this piece before adhering it directly onto the card base. I placed the claw machine onto the card, added Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal Drops - Glitter, Blue Lagoon onto the stamped hearts and Ranger Glossy Accents onto the joy stick controls and around the drop zone of the machine.

Stencils - June DT Project 2

Hi Everyone!

Today I am sharing another card using a stencil, our theme for this month of June.

I started by taping down a piece of Neenah Classic Crest 110lb Smooth Solar White Cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" to my work surface with masking tape to keep in place while I worked (but could be easily removed when finished) and taped down a 6" x 6" Crafter's Workshop stencil Tiny Circles over the top of the cardstock.

I mixed together in a bowl a small amount of Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste in white with a few drops of Distress Ink in Lucky Clover from a refill bottle and some emerald green glitter. I then used a palette knife to evenly apply the paste to the stencil. Once covered, I removed the stencil and immediately placed it into a basin of soapy water to be washed off later and set the stenciled cardstock aside to dry.

The beautiful image was created using Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock. The peacock was stamped with different colours of Hero Arts mid-tone Shadow Ink. The solid body was stamped with Pool, the tail with Emerald Green, the layered feathers on the body and tail and the legs in Navy and the eyes in the tail and beak were stamped with Lemon Yellow. I diecut the peacock and set it aside.

I then used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink with an ink blending tool to add colour to a piece of Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Solar White Cardstock and diecut it with the rectangle die from My Favorite Things Blueprints 21 and adhered it to the card base with Kokuyo Glue Tape Roller.

Once the stenciled cardstock piece was dry, I diecut a circle from it with a Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Circles die. I used Simon Says Stamp Cardstock Soft Navy to diecut a circle only marginally larger to tuck behind the stenciled circle piece and adhered both to the cardfront.

The sentiment from Hero Arts Color Layering Poppy was cut apart and positioned to stamp in Hero Arts mid-tone Shadow Ink, Navy, with a Misti Stamping Tool onto a strip of cardstock, along with flourishes from the Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock stamp set.

I diecut multiple copies of the peacock shape and glued them as a stack to create a chipboard-type piece and placed the stamped image on top. I then stuck the sentiment piece to the card and glued the peacock on top before brushing A Wink of Stella, Clear, onto each of the yellow areas for some shimmer.

Thankyou for following along with me today. Please feel free to ask questions if anything needs clarifying. Stencils - June DT Project

Hello!

Our fun theme this month sees us playing with stencils. I own a number of stencils but have not used these great tools as often as I should, so I have really been looking forward to this month!

I took a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and taped it onto my work surface to prevent it from moving and placed the My Favorite Things Stencil - Waves onto the lower half of the piece and taped it in position also. I then swiped Gina K. Designs*Thermoweb Turquoise Sea ink over the stencil with a Ranger Blending Tool, creating an ombre effect as I applied the ink more softly towards the bottom of the piece.

I removed the stencil and then did the same with the Tim Holtz Rays Layering Stencil on the top half of the card, this time using Barn DoorSpiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber and Scattered Straw Distress Ink. I die cut this piece with the stitched rectangle die from My Favorite Things Blueprints 13 using a Sizzix Bigshot Machine

Using Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Solar White cardstock, I die cut the larger sized Lawn Fawn Say Cheese, Again polaroid frame and cut another frame with Turquoise Sea cardstock from the Gina K. Designs*Thermoweb Island Dream collection. This gave me the blue I needed to place inside the frame. Before cutting the Turquoise Sea cardstock however, I used the My Favorite Things Stencil Waves once again. After taping in place, I used Thermoweb iCraft Decofoil Transfer Gel, smearing it over the stencil with a small craft spatula and placed aside to dry. Once dry, I foiled the piece using Gina K. Designs*Thermoweb Fancy Foils Turquoise Sea with my Heidi Swapp Minc Machine. As my background had a distressed feel, I decided to distress the foil a little too with a Tim Holtz Retractable Craft Scratcher.

I stamped My Favorite Things Seaside Seagulls with a Misti stamping tool in Memento Black ink onto Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Solar White cardstock, diecut and coloured the images with Copic Markers. I stamped the sentiment onto the polaroid frame from the same set using Hero Arts Black dye ink

To assemble the card, I adhered the stitched rectangle diecut background onto a slightly larger rectangle piece cut from Gina K. Designs*Thermoweb Turquoise Sea cardstock with a paper trimmer using Kokuyo Glue Tape Roller. I adhered a slightly smaller piece of scrap cardstock behind the polaroid frame and placed the Gina K. Designs*Thermoweb Turquoise Sea cardstock square insert foiled piece to this within the frame and stuck the frame to the background piece using 3M Scotch Foam Tape. I popped the seagulls into position and finished off the card with some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins in 4mm and 6mm, adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

Thankyou for following along with me today. Please feel free to ask questions if anything needs clarifying. Mother's Day - May DT Project 2

Hello Everyone!

Mother's Day may now be behind us for 2017, but we can honour and celebrate mums every day and any day!

I cut the cloud dies from Mama Elephant Stitched Sky with the Sizzix Big Shot Machine to create a background on the base of the card with Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Smooth Solar White Cardstock. I adhered them to the card using Kokuyo Glue Tape Roller and then used scissors to cut the over hanging areas of cloud from the card base.

I coloured a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth Paper using Colourcraft Brusho Colours in Ultramarine. I first sprayed the piece with water from a Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer and then sprinkled the Brusho powder over the wet paper. The colour spread across the piece beautifully and I then proceeded to dry the paper with a Wagner Heat Tool. Once dry, I die cut the stars circle using both dies from My Favorite Things Starry Circle and adhered a piece of gold glitter cardstock behind the piece to create shiny bright stars. I added some colour around the outside of the circle using Tim Holtz BluePrint Sketch Distress Ink with a Ranger Ink Blending Tool and Foam I placed this onto a larger die cut circle from Lil' Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Circles and adhered it onto the card front with the Kokuyo Glue Tape Roller.

I stamped the sentiment with My Favorite Things Black Licorice Hybrid Ink from Mama Elephant Tiny Heroes onto an extra die cut cloud and popped it in place with doubled-up 3M Scotch Foam Tape for dimension. I love this sentiment, even if the word 'favourite' is spelt incorrectly! ;)

The focal image for this card is also from Mama Elephant Tiny Heroes, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Ink and cut with the co-ordinating dies, Mama Elephant Tiny Heroes Creative Cuts. She is coloured with Copic markers and adhered with foam tape also. I added a splash of Zig A Wink of Stella, Clear and dropped a tiny dollop of Ranger Glossy Accents over the star on her chest.

I then added MUM to the card using dies from Lawn Fawn Cole's ABCs, completing the card.

Thankyou for following along with me today. Please feel free to ask questions if anything needs clarifying. If you cannot find the items I have used (listed below) in the Auzz Trinklets and Crafts store, be sure to drop Neha a message via email or Facebook and she will do what she can to order the product in for you.
