Dude....you're a winner!

Hello!

Today I  have a fun card to share featuring the perfect image for many of the boys in our lives from the Simon Says Stamp stamp set All Boy and some of the divine dies and sequins I was fortunate enough to win from Paulina's blog and store Pretty Pink Posh. The Charcoal sequins I have used are from her newest release, and are so perfect for this card - they are a must have! I am looking forward to purchasing some of the beautiful colours she has in stock - I was so excited when I received these yesterday! The Stitched Tag Dies will be used regularly and my daughter and I can't wait to make super cute Christmas tags and the border dies are from the fabulous set Stitched Borders 2. Thankyou Paulina for the beautiful supplies!! xoxox

I am entering this into the Simon Says Stamp challenge Anything Goes.

Have a superb weekend!

Watercolouring

Hello!

I mentioned in my last post I have been following along with the Online Card Classes watercolour class and I can say that I have found it very inspiring. I have done minimal watercolouring in the past and have enjoyed it, now I want to do more!

This beautiful sunflower is from La Blanche and I used the smooth side of Tim Holtz's watercolour paper which gave a very clean crisp image, using Archival Ink. I painted the petals with Distress Inks in Wild Honey, Scattered Straw and Mustard Seed, the flower centre with Walnut Stain  and Vintage Photo, the leaves with Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn and the background with Faded Jeans, Broken China and Tumbled Glass. I coloured the base of the card with Faded Jeans ink and adhered the image to navy smooth Bazzil cardstock before adhering it with dimensional tape to the card base. The sentiment is from the Stamps of Life set 'standup4sentiments', embossed in white.

A little light green bling from Hero Arts and the card was complete.

I leave you with this - watercolouring is a blast!!

U Rock

Hello!

I have been following along with Online Card Classes latest class focussing on watercolouring. I am just a little behind as usual, but there is always great inspiration that comes from these lessons. I don't own a decent set of water colour paints as yet but I do have Lyra Aquacolor Crayons and I have found these wonderful, providing beautiful and vivid colours.  A 6"x6" stencil 'Mini Cubist' from Crafter's Workshop provides the pattern seen in the background watercolour.

The stamps I have used here are from Altenew stamp sets Super Script  and Label Love - I really love the versatility of these sets! The die cut stars are cut from a Lawn Fawn die set 'Stitched Journaling Card'. I placed one star offset on top of another, just to give a different look.

Thanks for stopping by!

For a Special Lady

Hello!

This week we celebrated a birthday in our home - that of my twin boys who turned fifteen! Where does the time go?

Today I am sharing a Mother's Day card. I used a stampset - Painted Flowers - from a brand new company named Altenew and the sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp set - Best Mom Ever.

The layering stamps were so fun to use - a little tricky at first, but Tasnim provides a chart showing the placement of the layers for each flower. After a little practise it was easier to do. I am looking forward to seeing future releases from this company! The Hero Arts ink colours used were Soft Pool and Pool for the flowers and Soft Leaf and Soft Olive for the leaves.

Naturally, I covered the diecut from Simon Says Stamp with A Wink of Stella to provide shimmer. Can you tell I love that stuff?!

Flutterby Butterfly!

Hi There!

It is pouring rain and quite chilly here today and my thoughts turned to spring...I really so wish we could skip winter altogether! With spring comes butterflies, so I decided to stamp one.

I heat embossed the butterfly from My Favorite Things - Inspired By Butterflies in white onto vellum and used the matching die, then cut the same shape again with coloured cardstock and placed it behind the vellum piece. How great is that sentiment? Love it!

On a Sunshiney Day

Hello!

As I write this I am sitting in the beautiful autumn sunshine while watching my son's football game. I wish every Sunday afternoon would be this glorious!

I am sharing another card using the fun My Favorite Things stamp and die set 'At the Movies' today. Unfortunately the photo doesn't pick up the beautiful shimmer on the star left by A Wink of Stella clear brush marker - it looks pretty special!

These colours make me happy, definitely a favourite colour combination.

A Short Week.

Hi There!

Please tell me I am not alone in getting caught out with all the public holidays that surround Easter! Unfortunately I realised too late (ie. Wednesday afternoon) that I had not left enough time to create an Easter card and send it off in time to reach interstate before Friday. Crazy! I tried to quickly get one made before the evening so it would have a chance, but as the creative process progressed there was a need for glossy accents that required drying time....d'oh!

Hopefully the recipients will like their card nevertheless - it's the thought that counts...right???

I simply adore this full sized card die Mini Chicken Wire Die-namics from My Favorite Things - it offers so much versatility. I diecut the white cardstock and popped out the corresponding hexagons in order to replace them with dark cardstock inlaid to create the shape of a crucifix. The sentiment was cut on my Silhouette and covered with clear A Wink of Stella and a touch of my handwriting is showing! I then adhered sequins to each hexagon with glossy accents - they really look effective in person. I have to say, the sequin trend did not really appeal to me at first....and then you start to see them about the place....and you fall in love! What can I say?!

Have a great day. :)

Pop!

Hello!

I am sure I am not the only one who purchases that 'must have' stamp set and leaves it sitting around, waiting for the perfect occasion or that one person for whom you know it will be perfect!  I have had the My Favorite Things stamp and dies set At The Movies set for a while now, unused for that very reason but it really deserves much more love!

You have probably seen the very popular Pop Up Box Card in various styles doing the rounds recently and I, of course, had to create my own version! (You can find the tutorial here).

The papers from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Paper Stack: Lost and Found seemed to fit perfectly with these stamps, so who was I to argue?! The larger stars are from Lawn Fawn's Puffy Star Stackables. This was so fun to make, I can see more in my future. :)

I am entering this card into the following challenge:

Make My Monday - Distress It

I hope you and your family had a great Easter - I will share the one and only Easter card I made tomorrow - see you then!

A most awesome weekend!

Hello!

This time last week I was heading toward my first ever crafty retreat, my car heavily laden with many bags and boxes and a fabulous travelling companion, Debbie. We stayed in a beautiful spacious house located in a most tranquil area in the township of  Bright, Victoria. It was a wonderful long weekend filled with relaxation, good food and wine, great company and lots and lots of crafty goodness! Everything one could hope for, in fact. I was very fortunate indeed to be surrounded by so much generosity of spirit, talent and laughter - thankyou to all you amazing ladies for such an amazing experience and thankyou Joy for organising the perfect retreat!

Debbie P and me ready for an adventure!

The dining area of the house in which we stayed.

The group of gorgeous ladies at our retreat.

Thankyou again Joy! We had a blast!! :)

I seemed to be drawn to a CAS style - I am not sure if it was due to me looking at a lot of these recently or because a number of the ladies around me at retreat have a CAS style - maybe it was both!

This was made using stamps and dies from Simon Says Stamp and My Favorite Things.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges -

Enjoy a wonderful day and thankyou for dropping by!
